well i drove by the one in brea on my way to taps once. :D
I go to the BJ's in Monrovia. They have great happy hours!
My brother-in-law went to the BJs in Arlington and raved about all the beer, particularly the red ale.

Jeremiah Red is our red, named after one of our CEOs. It's an Irish-style red ale with the strength of an English strong ale. Full-bodied, malt and alcoholic. Not too hoppy in order to emphasize the complex malt flavor and fruity aroma. The ruby red color hints at its rich caramel maltiness. Enjoy!
Us Northern Califonians can't live without our Pirhana...it is the best Pale Ale anywhere up here (or down in So Cal for that matter). BJ's Cupetino will definitely win based solely on all of our dedicated Pirhana drinkers!
taps? wtf? taps is a great place for dinner or brunch but the beer is tentative at best. next time stop at bj's for a growler to drink at taps!
Are you people high? Arizona is by far the greatest population of beer drinkers there is. Yes, that includes those nice people on their high horses in Boulder. Our homebrew clubs still make beer here! I have faith in the Arizona Society of Homebrewers and Brewmeisters Anonymous to prove that they are the biggest supporters of American Craft Brewed Beer!
Good Luck in trying to take our trophy from us,
Derek

I just moved to Fullerton, and from what I hear Brea is planning to give you guys out there in Boulder a run for your money!
Brea is gonna need help Beergirl from Fullerton. Go in and show your support. I gotta warn you though Arizona is going to keep the trophy this year unless you plan on drinking 2446 pints yourself! We've got mother nature and an Army of beer drinkers on our team!

Well I figure I can handle at least 20 between now and Thursday. I might need a little help from others. I guess I will have to pull out the big guns and invite all the college brew-sers from Fullerton to bounce up the totals.
:)
since I have only been to the one in Boulder-my vote is for that one-I remember a fine stout
WEst Covina will Win it ALL
well, i went to brea on friday and on sunday. several ipas plus growlers.
Here's a vote for my local: the BJ's in Woodland Hills-- birthplace of numerous mighty beers (including the cask-conditioned Extra Pale Ale dry-hopped with heroic quantities of Simcoe hops-- superb!). And the finest Piranha Pale Ale in town.

BJ's Woodland Hills is the best. The brewers there are the best, especially Dave Mathis!
Az will win. The beer here is excellent. Besides all the rest are wankers.

bj's has cask. they use it for small batches. i've had several cask brews that i've liked and a few that i didn't.
my favorite though is owen's ipa.
how about the one in huntington beach do they have cask there???
only the breweries will have cask. brea, covina...
Anyone know if the new BJ's brewery in Oxnard does a cask night?
And to the person who gave respect to Owen's IPA, I heartily agree. It's outstanding.

well i've never been to b.j.'s just drove buy on my way to taps like i said before , and got bashed for it . but i looked b.j.'s up on ratebeer.com and you all didn't score much higher then taps. i'll check it out one of these days. i almost did once the night before i got married , i was going to throw myself a bachelor party. by my self. i much prefer my own company sometimes, seems like i have more intelligent conversations that way. not to mention im dealing with a better class of people:p
It's a lot easier for me to go down the street to BJ's Woodland Hills than it is to take several freeways down to Taps in Brea. If I lived down in that area, I suspect I would spend time at _both_ places, as long as they kept up the quality and variety of the brews.
And even though it's been almost 2 years since my last visit to Taps, I can remember having some good beers there. The cask-conditioned Old Ale comes to mind, as does the Oatmeal Stout. I also remember that the IPA was solid, if not thrilling. Maybe it's time for a return trip...

i agree with the i.p.a , also i did find the oatmeal stout very good. i normally don't care for them but theirs was quite tasty. it has been a while for me as well, i went a few weeks ago and had the thomas jefferson ale on cask , i just had one and left, i was short on time. before that it had been a few years for me as well. but i'll check out b.j.s one of these days.
