Just got this in the ol' E-mail. For those local to Charm City and DC, it's worth your $10 to join

The Society For The Preservation Of Beers From The Wood
Announces the Next Meeting

(Due to unforeseen circumstances, the meeting will not be at DuClaw)

The Mini Pub Crawl/Election Meeting

November 10th, 2005

Mahaffeys Pub and Maxs on Broadway

We want to show our gratitude to both of these establishments with the announcement of their New Kickoff of Firkin Thursdays. Both Max's and Mahaffeys will now be doing a new firkin every Thursday to fill the void left by Sean Bolans. While we lament the closing of Sean Bolans, we can be thankful that Mahaffeys and Max's have picked up the slack and then some. Both will feature Firkins and Beer Engines, so that's 5 or more Cask Conditioned Beers for our meeting. This will be available every week!!!!!!!

For the 10th, we will have a special mini crawl (walk or drive) starting at Mahaffeys around 5 or so and work our way to Maxs by 7:30ish. The elections for next years officers will take place at Max's around 8:00 to 8:15pm. Anyone that wants to get to Mahaffeys earlier or later can do so. It's about a 15 minute walk to Max's. Mahaffeys will be offering $2 off the first pint on the firkin for members and Maxs will be doing something similar. This should be a lot of fun and I'm grateful that they both could step up to the plate.

For the election, you can nominate any present member to any office. Votes will be taken and we will have next year's staff in place. I hope to everyone on the 10th.

Finally, a word of thanks goes out to our whole volunteer staff for all of their efforts in putting on a fantastic real ale festival. I can't tell you how many compliments have come our way from folks all over the region that attended. Look forward to emails concerning this year's Christmas Party and next years early events.

Cheers,

Dominic

Um...when's the Christmas Party? If I'm in town for it, it might be worth joining just to attend that! Firkin's and Cask for Christmas..Who could want more?

Oh...and sorry about the loss. 4-0. Someone needs to talk to both Gomez and Adu.

Talk about flaming out. The game was lost by halftime though, the rest was just misery icing on the shitecake.

Yeah, I stopped paying attention online at halftime.

Anyhow, back to beer. You think they'll have anykind of Firkin/Cask thing going on between the 23rd Dec. and 8th Jan? I'd be super interested in attending something like that.

I think they were brewing another batch of Olivers Harvest.............. I wish! SPBW is a worthy organization just based on the real ale festival they put on alone. I'd encourage all local Realbeer folks to pony up the ten spot.

I don't think I'll be able to make this one. Anyone else going to try to go?
