A new pub has opened where I live- always a cause for celebration! It's called "The Maltings" and is owned by Jarrow Breweries- see their entries at www.quaffale.org.uk and list of their beers at www.beermad.org.uk- and will be brewing their beers (all real ales) on site. I tried the Jobling's Swinging Gibbet (all the beers names have Jarrow historical connections) and it was tasty enough. I also tried the Sarah Hughes Pale Amber (4.2ABV) which I didn't care for too much, rather too bland. Still another real ale pub in 10 minutes walking distance- tragic!
Also managed to quaff a few pints of Archers Autumn Ale last night- splendid stuff! The piece de la resistance though was Nethergate's Old Growler- a Porter (5%ABV) which I would have happily drank more of if they didn't bloody well run out. Lovely though- cinder toffeeish smell and taste with maybe a hint of Vanilla(?) Definately keep my eye out for that again!

Sounds like a lovely place.

Your second link doesn't seem to work, folks might want to try this one:

Aye, it is a nice pub. Apparently it used to be a dairy, although you wouldn't know it now. Lots of wood panelling, stained glass, etc. & snugs. A real comfy bar with a good atmosphere- strange for a new pub, normally takes quite a few years to acquire one! The barfitters have definately mastered the art of producing ersatz Victorian pubs now! I nearly always prefer a pub with a bit of age and history but I'll definately be a regular visitor to this one- it's on route to more real ale bars anyway and fills in the gap between my house and them!
