I’m spending a couple days in DC.

What are the BEST beer pubs or restaurants?

Any beer “happenings” Oct 26 or 27?

A plethora of information. Thanks.

There isn’t an Alefest, special offerings at one of the local establishments, or anything cool going on Oct 26 or 27 is there?

We are coming off 3 or 4 weekends of local festivals. On the 22nd is the Real Ale fest up in Baltimore. If you are looking for a big fest on the 29th you might have to go to Boston at the Cyclorama. It is BAs New England beer fest. I am trying to set up a trip to Maine starting in Boston that weeknd and ending up in Portland for the Maine Brewers Festival on Nov. 5th. But I think the wife wants to skip the Boston part and fly directly into Portland and spend most of the week in Maine.:(

Crap. Missed all of the happenings.…Oh, well.

Re. Boston/ME, my wife and I have worked out a compromise on the beer thing. We have a sliding scale in which beer time relates directly to shopping.

Maybe you promise her really good shopping in Boston?? :D

She is usually pretty good about the beer thing. But she would rather spend more time in Maine. She enjoys Boston but LOVES Maine as do I.

During out trip to DC, we had a chance to hit The Brickskeller, Gordon Beirsch, The Belgae Café and the Chevy Chase store.

Not too bad an experience at any… Belgae was great but a tad pricey. The Brick was the best!

Glad you enjoyed it! The Brick holds a very special place in my heart.

What all did you get at Chevy Chase Liquors?

Cool place.

Let’s see, some Belgian stuff, all of the DFH, 3 Floyds (the only one they had, RTB S. Ale).. uh, most of the Stone varieties (several, I bought all they had)… stuff that’s not available down here.

I’m doing my best to not drink it all at once… but my best is woefully lacking. I’m going through the stuff like crap goes through a goose.

I was just there last weekend myself. Went to get some Moylens and a 2IPA but wound up spending $86 between the two of us on various things. They had Hop Hog IPA on sale there for $22 a case! No Moylens though... whats with their lame ass distributor?

My only gripe is they seem to stock just a very few of their specialty items.

There were several that had me salivating in anticipation only to find they only had one or two in stock.

Yes they do tend to spread themselves a little thin. Looks impressive though.
