Cab and Metro make it easy to get around DC. You're near GWU so there's not a lot of quality right near by, but take the aforementioned transport and you should check out MCI/Gallery Place area (Gordon Biersch, District Chophouse, Cap City, RFD, Matchbox), the Dupont Circle Area (Big Hunt, Brickskeller), Union Station (Dubliner, Irish Times, Cafe Berlin) and Adams-Morgan (Angles, the Reef). Just outside the city there's some more brew worth bars. Bethesda (Rock Bottom), Wheaton (Royal Mile), Arlington (Dr. Dremos), etc.
Gi' us a Bell when you're in town we can maybe make a proper session of it.
Big Hunt and the Brick (the latter should be on your "must do" list) are both walking distance from 20th and I; 15-20 minutes tops. Metro is at 18th/I so you are minutes away by train from the aforementioned places.

When its not rush hour maybe.
By the way, The Bottom Line is just a few blocks down from you on I street and last time I checked they had blue moon and hoogarden on tap there among others.

sounds like fun! but i do need to be functional at 8:30 am.
I am thinking Sunday night might work okay for me (nov. 6th). I don't have too much information about whether or not the sponsering organization will be sponsering after hour events. My guess is that there might be a dinner on Monday night, and possibly a gathering on Wednesday night. I'll post again when I have more information.
cheers
Jeff

Yamaha,
The BEST beer bar you're close to is Brickskeller, which was mentioned above. If you're coming between Weds - Sat, make sure you head upstairs, where their taps are (no taps downstairs).
Also close to you is david greggory, which is at the corner of 21st & M NW. It's a nice place, most of it is a restaurant but they have a decent-sized bar too, after-work crowd mostly. They keep 3 taps running, all generally of good beer. Not a Bud or Miller to be seen; plus a good selection of import and microbrew bottles.
I was there last week and on tap was:
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
North Coast Red Seal Ale
Eggenberg Pilsner
