I assume you have all talked about this before, and please pardon my bringing it up again. However, I am wondering what happened to the Baltimore Brewing Company's Brewpub (DeGroen's Grill). I was in Baltimore last week. I saw the sign for it, and walked quite a ways from my hotel...only to find it closed. Has it relocated? Were the beers good?
I did have a Clipper City Pale Ale and loved it. I wish I would have known about the Dogfish place though!
Sadly, Degroens closed earlier this year. You can read more about it in
this thread (http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5868) . Yes, the beers were good. It's a bad loss for the Baltimore brewing scene, especially around Oktoberfest time.

Yes it is sadly missed. Kalleh, too bad you are not going to be there on the 22nd. There is a real Ale festival taking place at one of the Wharf Rat locations. (Pratt Street). I hope you visited Fells Point when you were in town. Max's on Broadway always has a cask or two. Baltimore has several brewpubs and plenty of fine places to drink. It is definitly a great beer town. I love the addition Mr. Boh to the skyline as well.

Hmmm, I will be in Washington DC (near Georgetown) on the 22nd...just made the reservations today. About how far is that?
My time was fairly taken up when I was in Baltimore, but whereever I was, I did find good beer. That's not always the case in Chicago. Some places have Coors, Bud, Bud Lite, and Millers...that's it. Maybe I just happened to go to the better places, though.
What did surprise me was the interest in baseball. Everyone was yelling and screaming (some game was on), and I said that I thought the Orioles were out of it. They said, "Oh, yeah, they've been out all year. However, the Yankees and Red Sox and Cleveland are still playing!" Now...that was when Cleveland was still in it.

I will have to check my conference schedule, but typically this is one of those conferences where I have a lot of free time. On the other hand, I will be there with a Board member, and they often need a lot of attention! I will try to come to the festival, though, as long as I can get there by cab.

Georgetown to Baltimore by cab? That could cost you almost as much as the flight from Chicago. A number of us are going up that way for that event. Perhaps something could be arranged as far as rides. Although as has been stated a bunch of people are staying over night.
