Anyone from the South knows that certain rivalries have existed for years, whether it be best football team or best brewpub. Since it is not football season (just 2 more months, thank goodness), we can focus on which Boscos is better.
I know Fred and Bob (Boscos Nashville's brewer and general manager) think they will beat the Square, and I wish them luck. Of course, we all know that on July 25 they will be sadly disappointed.
Keep the dream alive Fred, Bob , Nashville staff and customers, because dreams will be all you have. :)

We are spending the final week before the American Beer Month Challenge Cup warming up the important muscles of the body. Like a skilled and finely tuned athlete, we will be loose and ready next week, at the peak of our conditioning. We have been practicing for a whole year. Since realbeer.com is a family oriented web site, the photos detailing our important muscles were sent to Nashville in a private e-mail. Be very afraid.

Who was that girl wearing American Beer Month stickers as pasties at Boscos Nashville Wednesday night? The beer goggles didn't help at all.

In is interesting to note that this week, Tuesday through Thursday the week before the Challenge Cup, Boscos Nashville out sold Boscos Squared by 74 pints.
I already know what the managers at the Square will say: "Constuction on the new patio and on Poplar Avenue (the main road for Boscos Squared customers coming from Germantown) are negatively affecting our business".
I know the real reason Nashville outsold Memphis this week. They brought out their secret weapon, Bob's trombone!
Apparently Bob will be playing his trombone throughout the Challenge Cup next week. Boscos Nashville customers will get to hear "Roll out the Barrel", the long version, over and over and over and over and over and over again. There is nothing quite like Bob playing "Roll out the Barrel" solo on his trombone.
When I first saw that Nashville had outsold the Square this week, I thought about creating controversy by changing sides. Then I thought about Bob's trombone. I'm sticking with the Square.

This week is like preseason football. Boscos Squared has simply not played there starters, so they will be fresh for the big game. Even playing the second and third string drinkers only, the Square only lost the preseason match up by 74 pints.
Even more important is the simple fact that the preseason does not count in the final standings. :D
Okay...so Nashville beat the Square by 74 pints last week. That's all a part of the plan. Lead them into a false sense of security and make the loss hurt even worse than last year. We are up for the challenge in Memphis!

I heard a funny rumor while pouring beer in my home bar, Boscos Squared, that I thought all the Nashville folks needed to hear. It appears that the Little Rock store (not open yet) has sold more memberships to its mug club than Boscos Nashville has managed to scrape up in 2003. We at the Square have hit, and then extended, our capacity and now have a full 200 members. I probably pour more mug beers each Monday night than Nashville does in a week. Best of luck in the coming week. I hope that second place will suit you as well this year as it did last year.

Nashville managed to outsell Memphis not because of Bob's trombone, but despite it.

So it looks like Nashville is pulling ahead in the polls, which is fine because we at the Square, unlike you dirty nashville folk, do not have time to log on to this fine web site under 12 different user names to stack the votes, we've been to busy pouring beers. As a matter of fact, would some of you like to come down to the Square and help us out this month cause we're swamped and we all know ya'll aint got s**t to do at your store. Hell, just give us Kelly back, she has the strength of ten men.

Weren't we going to keep it fun?.....
Finally got power back tonight (Sunday) after being out since Tuesday morning! What a week it has been in Memphis! Thank God Boscos was able to open Friday with the use of generator. The beer sure did taste good after all of the destruction around town. I guess this means that Nashville beat us in the challenge. It took an act of God to do it though! Cheers!
