Well, the time has come to make my first all grain batch. I have the cooler all set up for the mash tun. Any suggestions for any simple good beer. What style you ask, I really haven't had any I disliked. Comericial wise I like the Sierra Nevada (most styles), all of Sam Adams. I am really open to any suggestions. I like the pale ale's,.....Like I said I really haven't had any I didn't like. I need some simple instructions as well. I am going Sat. morning to get the supplies I need.

Here's a link to a similar question posted by another 1st time AG'er. The recipe I give in there is really simple, clean and tastes great. I've brewed this recipe many times (mostly slight variations), and I've always liked how it turns out. Matter of fact, I'm doing another variation of it this weekend, too.

I'd suggest you read and re-read this section (http://www.howtobrew.com/section3/chapter18.html) of Palmer's book before you start. It has instructions far better than we can post here in a message.
Best of luck & let us know how it turns out

The recipe BD suggested is great and one I have brewed with a little tweaking of the grain bill.
Palmer is 'a must read' either in book or on-line form for AGing and can get you through your first couple of AG brews easily.
Would suggest doing a trial run through of you equipment logistics. Such as making sure HLT is higher than mash/lauter tun which in turn is higher than your cook pot so gravity can do the work of transferring liquids. Saw horses with 3/4 " plywood works good to support propane burner stand with HLT full of water on top and mash/lauter tun to one side of it. On the gound you can put the burner stand with cook pot on it when collecting wort. This, of course, is assuming you are planning to brew outdoors.
