Maybe this should be on the thread about Saranac Black Forest, but... this suprised me. I was impressed. Nice color and flavorful. Reminded me of the Spaten Okt I drank immediately afterwards, a good model to which to aspire. Can't say much more because I don't have one in front of me now.
I like some Saranac products but they're usually not my first choice. However, the strange local beer store (which also specializes in bags of mulch and topsoil) has a wall of cases, and I just might pick one up before the season passes.

Which strange local store would that be?

Country Boy in Wheaton's Glenmont Shopping Ct. An odd mix of produce, Goya and McCutcheon brand foods, beer & wine... and a big selection of mulch, fertilizer, top soil, and plants during planting season.
The most notable thing about their beer selection is that they've reliably carried cases of the Dominion seasonals... until now, it seems. I bought several cases of the Spring Brew, but they haven't gotten in any OD Okt yet.

You know, I still have not been over to Franklin's. In your area. I've had their beers at tastings but have not been by their brewpub. One of these days......

Haven't made it there myself, not often in that neck of the woods.
On the other hand, I did sample some draft Hofbrau Oktoberfest at Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill. Fresh and yummy.

Where? The ones I know about are on Thursdays... the one weekday that, sadly, I'm not downtown.

The Reef, same place it was on Thursdays. Assuming Meridian is talking about the same one I think he is.
I wish I could find something like that in driving distance now... Damn Iberians and their sh!te beer.
