I just wanted to make a place where, for my own (in)sanity, I could see all the Oktoberfest related goings on in the area. Off the top of my head there's:

1. Festbier taping at Gordon Biersch this Thursday 5:30-6ish.

2. Frederick Oktoberfest, first weekend of Oktober. This has its own thread here:

http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8299

3. Ft. Belvoir Oktoberfest 9/29-10/2 (info in above thread)

4. Maryland Renaissance Festival Oktoberfest 10/1-2

5. Pete will be tapping CC Oktoberfest on cask this Thursday.

What else?

Absolutely. Thats always a good time. And of course dont forget the MD Brewers Oktoberfest (http://www.mdoktoberfest.com/enter.htm) on the 15th.

The Chesapeake Real Ale Festival (http://www.spbw.org/) should be a good time too.

German Beer Night is Sept 29. Here is the thread:

http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7999&highlight=german+beer+night

Clydes in Reston usually has a decent one with great food and usually Old Dominion OKtoberfest beer. Not sure of the dates yet.

This from Clydes site:

OKTOBERFEST 2005
For fourteen years, Clyde's of Reston has held an annual Oktoberfest featuring authentic German dishes, our specially brewed Oktoberfest beer and a variety of German bands and dance troops.

We are opening our newest restaurant at Gallery Place near the MCI Center in October. Staffing Clyde's of Reston's Oktoberfest is an "all hands on deck" affair, and with the opening just around the corner, we're just not able to do both at the same time. We're pretty disappointed to postpone this year's event, but are looking forward to Oktoberfest 2006!

Please visit us soon at Clyde's of Gallery Place.

It would also be neat to know who is attending which functions.

I'll be at German Beer Night and usually go to the Belvoir fest even though it is cheesy. Hey they have draft Spaten and German music what can I say? I'm thinking that will be on the Friday evening session on the 30th.

I'd love to do Shirlington again. It is a favorite and I might actually be in town because Paul McCartney is playing at MCI that night and I'm told I have tickets. So Shirlington could be a good bet. If the tix don't materialize I'm probably beaching it.

And the Real Ale fest sounds great. I'd like to go to that also.

Does anybody happen to know which breweries are coming to the Cap City event?

chazwicke
09-29-2005, 01:18 PM
Not sure but they are looking for volenteers:

This year's Capitol City Brewing Company's Oktoberfest will be held in
Shirlington Village, Arlington, VA on Saturday, October 8th from Noon to
7pm. Over 30 brewers from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond are signed up.
It is a great Fest and they need volunteer beer pourers for either the first
(11:30am-3pm) or second (2:30-6pm or beer runs out whichever is first)
shifts. If you're interested in volunteering, send an email indicating your
shift preference to me at donacake@comcast.net as soon as possible.

Hope to see you there no matter which side of the taps you're on.

Regards,

Dona Lee

Amazingly, nobody seems to know which breweries are coming. The press release doesn't include any information, nor does their website.

So I called Shirlington:

"We don't know. We sent out invitations, but nobody has responded."

Does this strike anybody else as odd?
