Yes, but you didn't see the follow-on:

"Bomber gets pummeled by 17,914 bier steins flung by pissed Germans in sweaty lederhosen."

I think we're a few days away from the start of the fest

Oktoberfest starts this Saturday and no, the Olympic grounds are, for the most part, on the other side of town.

And Derek, they aren't "steins," they're Maß'.

Life should go on. We can not let terrorism keep us from doing what we would do anyway. This incident and the train bombings in London would not dissuade me from visiting either country. Especially for Oktoberfest or GBBF.

There's only one thing that would prevent me from attending the Oktoberfest or GBBF and it ain't no terrorist, goverment, or bomb. It is however 29" and 17lbs of trouble I got myself into.

:D

Mind I'm thinking of having my own Oktoberfest. That's what a kegerator's for after all.

It's usually my "I don't know any french phrase" - La porte est faite la fromage, but that handy dandy google translator works quite well.

When I translate something from english to another language with a tool like this, I usually translate it back to english to see how warped it got.

Cool! That's what I am doing. In fact, it will be the innagural christening of my new kegerator. And when the Paulaner doesn't get finished (and it won't), happiness will ensue :).

Depending on how many you invite, don't bet on that - a friend used to have an Oktoberfest and a keg of Spaten could be finished in about 4 hours!

Actually, I am counting on it. This will be the 5th annual and the first 2 I bought a keg (hand pump) and they were not finished. Plus our crowd has died down since the beginning. Living at least 1/2 away from most of the guests and the fact that most are older with kids, I say there will be plenty left over. But, I would be more than happy if I had such a huge party that we blew the keg and had to make a liquor store run. Alas, those days are over.

this is one of my saddest part of the year:(

I just have to watch the webcams in the tents from my house and drink German beer untill I pass out in the chair...

I watch some of those webcams too. We have some local area Oktoberfests which help get through the season.

I have not been to it but have heard about it often. I saw that a Katrina spurned tornado wrecked a hotel there on the news. I think some of the posters on this board have been to it before.
