has closed on May 1st 2005. The people who ran the place for decades are both almost in their 70s and they couldn't find anyone to take over.
I've been to this place several times and both me and my wife liked their beer very very much. We are both in deep mourning :(
After the Brauerei Birkenseer in Burglengenfeld (who closed on August 1st 2004 for similar reasons) this is the second time within a year that a brewery in my close vicinity goes down. *sighs*

That's a damn dirty shame!! In a similar vein, a few of the better small German restaurants in Chicago closed down in years past for the same reason - the proprietors' children didn't want to carry on the family tradition. Once again, a dirty shame and great losses for everyone.

I was born into the wrong business! :(

I don't know about the Birkenseer place but the Aukofer brewery was in it's 4th generation... *sighs*

There's a few other breweries around here that are run by pretty old guys... I'm getting increasingly worried and paranoid about this.

Time for both of us to seriously look into learning brewing, maybe even brewery management!

I've been thinking about it before but you can't learn that in evening courses. To make it to brewmaster takes about 10 years here in Germany. Who's gonna pay my mortgage while I'm away learning how to brew...?

Go work with the old guys as an apprentice.

Gladly. How do we extend days to 36 hours though ?
