My buddy is moving to Pensacola, Florida, and is wondering what the overall beer availability is like down there? He comes from the home of Stone and Alesmith and all that other great beer in CA and I told him from what i've heard there isn't that great of a selection down there, any info I can pass on?

He'll have to find a good store in a surrounding state and stock up from time to time.

Yeah, looks pretty bad. There's a site that chaz linked to a while back at www.nhbrewers.com - if you scroll down to pensacola all it has is mcguire's and a homebrew club. Didn't see much else near there. I think you should give your friend some brewing stuff as a going away present, looks like he'll need it.

BA's BeerFly (http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/list?path=%2Fbeerfly%2Flist&sort=name&show=search&name=&city=Pensacola&s_id=FL&c_id=&zip=&area=&submit=+search+) shows a few decent places, but showing him how to brew might solve all his problems.

I've been to McGuires. Had lunch there several years ago. It was OK. My mom (RIP) once moved from San Diego to Fla. I'm not sure I thought it was a good move.

Maybe he could bring a Pizza Port franchise with him!
