Just got this E-mail. Ufortunately the new joint will be all the way out in Gaithersburg (who thought that up?) which will greatly limit my attendance there. Here ya go:

New Dogfish Head Alehouse coming to MD!!!

Coming this mid-Sept. the new Dogfish Head Alehouse opens in Gaithersburg, MD.
We will be located off of Rt. 370 and Clopper Rd. exit off of I-270.

We will feature 12 tap lines of Dogfish Head beer, our spirits, including Blue Hen Vodka, regular or infused with up to 20 different flavors, and three types of Rum. Also, we will have an authentic wood grill just like the one in Rehoboth Beach! Enjoy wood grilled pizza's, seafood's, and steaks.

Randall the Enamel Animal will be proudly featured on Fridays at happy hour, and we will also have a vintage beer cooler! Choose from 2002 World Wide Stout, 2003 Old School Barleywine, 3 year old 120 min IPA, and more!

I'll email you all back with address and grand opening date specifics!

From what I understand this is the first of up to seven they will open in the MA area. I believe there is one slated for DC or VA but don't know more than that. I have to say, however, given DFH prices at the RB pub the last time I was there I won't be going to any of them. To a great degree the novelty has worn off and the prices are becoming somewhat ridiculous.

I have heard that Sam C. is working with the Baja Fresh group to set up these pubs.

From what I read Sam owns the licensing to BF in the MA area. If true, that is one hell of a catch. I know I eat there a lot!

It has been a while but I used to eat at the BF in Fairfax Corner frequently. I've not been to the one in Chantilly/Herndon. I liked some of the food.

I think you mean the MD area, MA would be up in Chowderland.

I've loved DFH for years but I'm having a hard time working up excitment for this.

We checked out the new Dogfish Head restaurant Friday night after work. They've only been open a week, so they're still working out some of the kinks, but overall it's not a bad place. Right now they only have 6 taps running, but the bartender said they hope to have all the taps up in time for their 'official' grand opening in October. Friday they had Shelter Pale, 60 Min, Indian Brown, Lawnmower Light, Pumpkin and a Double Raison D'etre.

It's very easy to get to--right off exit 10 of 270. They took over an existing building (I don't remember what resaurant used to be there), and it is two floors with two outside patio areas. The menu has a nice mix of seafood and pub fare, and the prices are pretty decent. I look forward to trying it again once they have all their taps up and running.

Thanks for the review. They have some decent food offerings at their brewpub so I hope that that continues here.

From what I understand, The beers will be from the Milton plant and not brewed on premises. Unlike the the Rehobeth brewpub which produces their own beers.
