This is my first batch of homebrew - I'm brewing a pale ale. The brewing went well and after the wort cooled I pitched White Labs California Ale yeast. The airlock started bubbling in 15 hours, then more vigorously the next day. Today is the third day and the A/C went out in the room w/ the fermenter (temp climbed to 74F).
So I moved the fermenter into my bedroom which is at a constant 70F. But I noticed that the bubbling immediately slowed down, and it's now bubbling just slower than once per second.
Is this normal? The OG was 1.063 and the yeast was clicking along at a good pace. Now it's slowing down (day 2.5). Should I shake the bucket? Any suggestions? Thanks.
