The annual German Beer Night hosted by the German Armed Forces Command US/CA out at Dulles is scheduled for Sept. 29th at 6:30 PM Looks like there will be no ticket sales at the gate which was the same as last year. Tickets are first come - first serve. The number on the mailing that I received is (703) 390-3317 Monday - Thurs., 1 PM - 3 PM. Tix are $22.00. This is usally a fun event. Its at the airport?? What facility? Is it a public thing or a semi private event? Any web site? Could I possibly fit another question in this sentence?

It is at the German Airforce hangar at Dulles Airport. The food is brats cooked on huge grills, kraut, potato salad, cheeses bread sometimes soups and other stuff. German band music. The beer now is usually Spaten or Paulaner. In the past they have had better beers. This used to be by invitation only but has grown so much over the years. You can get in if you call soon.

What is the German Airforce (luftwaffa??) doing with a hanger so close to our nation's capitol? Wonder if they don't have a few Stukas and Emil-109's stashed in their hanger. (heheh)

Same thing our airbases are doing close to their homes.

Waiting to serve up food and beer.

Now I know I am a newbie around here, but what's the deal? Paulaner is a pretty good beer (to me).

Welcome to the board. I passed through York, PA today.

Nothing is wrong with Paulaner or Spaten. Both make excellent Oktoberfest beers. Sorry if you thought the implication was that they were bad. I also enjoy Hacker-Pschorr and Hofbrau OKtoberfest beers.

Tonight is the night! I've been looking forward to it for a while. Anyone else attending? I'm giving my 2 extra tickets to a RealBeer member who PMed me.

Hoping they have Paulaner, Hacker Pschorr, and Spaten like usual.

ChazMeister

Have fun tonight and take plenty of notes so you can post the details when you are able. Wish I was about 700 miles closer so I could join in the festivities.

Nice. I echo the above(in the nicest possible way, of course).

Ahhh The food was great, the bands were cheesy, the lines were long and the Paulaner Oktoberfest was wonderful. It was really crowded. Last year was less people and I had worried that it was slowly dying but the crowds were back. I always have a great time and I have only minimal residual effects this morning.:D

Now tonight it is on to Ft. Belvoir's Oktoberfest and Spaten Oktoberfest Bier!

Its just one after the other this time of year isnt it. Wish I could have made it but I had tickets to the Orioles game last night and didnt think I could swing Dulles and Baltimore in one evening. Went out to the Wharf Rat before the game though... had some extra bitter.

Yeah, those Oktoberfests are fun. I have been drunk (throwing up and all) only twice in my life. And one of those times was at the Maryland Oktoberfest at the Armory in Baltimore. I had just lost 40 pounds and I had very little food in me. I don't know what happened, but I just couldn't stop drinking that Paulaner.

I happy to report that the Spaten Oktoberfest was very good last night. They also had a non Oktoberfest Spaten (Not sure which but did not try it.) and Franzikaner Hefe on draft and Miller lite. I only drank the Oktoberfest.
