After now having a few visits ti the A1A Ale House in St. Augustine, I think I need to update my views.
First, the food remains very good. They take advantage of being able to obtain fresh seafood and prepare it well. Their menu is broad enough to appeal to those that may not like seafood. These items to are served with great quality.
Seond, their beer is good. It is not outstanding but I will most likely drink there again. I do find it interesting that they have the same 5 beers on tap each time I visit. They have only 6 taps. Twice that I know of did they make use of the 6th tap. It was this summer and last. They had/have a good hefe on. It is very true to style and Taco and I both enjoyed it. Any other brewpubs I have visited rotated more beers through their taps. I may be wrong but I would want to offer a bigger selection. It would not have to be through more taps but by changing the offerings from time to time.
Third, the staff in the bar needs work. I have come across two bartenders that were not well versed in descrbing their beers. I also found it interesting that when I said Taco and I were Realbeer.com members out to taste good beers, they showed no interest. The staff at Rendezvous light up thier faces abd started chatting away in comparison. I had one bartender blow off a question I asked at one time. The bar staff seems to have no idea who Michael Jackson is and what he means to beer. The wait staff is friendly and do thier jobs well.
I would tell anyone to go in and try their wares but I think I will spend more of my beer money in St. Augustine with the folks at Rendezvous.
