Bill Madden Steps Down

The DC area has lost one of its best and longest serving brewers. Bill Madden has resigned as part owner and head brewer of Founder’s. I understand that today is his last day. I do not have any information as to why he decided to part ways. I have heard that he will be working in an occupation other than brewer, but that he hopes to return to brewing soon.

Barbara Gerovac, who recently graduated from IBS and is the wife of Greg Gerovac (brewer for Sweet Water Tavern) will be taking over for Bill.

I wish Bill much success in what ever he is doing and hope to find him brewing in our area real soon.

I welcome Barbara to the DC brewing community and look forward to trying her beers.

Thanks for posting this Steve. I had Just heard this last night. Madden has been a positive force in our area at Founders and Cap City. He will be missed.

That's a real shame. I met Bill at the Founders last time I was over and he was a very gracious host. Then, some few months later, back home in the UK, I bumped into him quite unexpectedly at the Reading Beer Festival and he not only remembered me, but remembered my name as well.
