I will be at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vermont, next week for a conference. I will have a car and on one night I'd like to drive somewhere to find some good beer. Any suggestions? Also, what are good microbrews in the area? Thanks!

Yes, I go to this conference every year. I just wondered if there was anything new. Apparently not. Thanks!

On the way home from the Vermont Brewer's Fest this weekend we stopped in the Long Trail facility for lunch. Pub grub, but very good with a nice deck overlooking the river. I've always liked Long Trail. They did what a lot of brewers did in the late 90s -- pulled back distribution to concentrate on building a local customer base. Just recently they've entered back into the NJ area.

At the pub they have a special IPA that they brewed for the VBF. Very nice beer!

Yes, I had wanted to stop at that brewery, too, as it wasn't too far from us. However, I couldn't because of time. The Norridge Inn was nice, though, and had 4 beers on tap that they make. I had an excellent ESB. Vermont is a great state!

Oh, and I have a question. I had to drive through New Hampshire and found all these signs for "Liquor Stores" at all the rest areas. What's that about? I have driven through a number of states in the east, west, north and south, and yet I have never seen signs advertising liquor stores at rest stops! Are New Hampshireans (or whatever!) really into their liquor?
