Hope everyone there is ok in the wake of today's events (Richard we hope you're safe).

I've been in touch with most of my friends there and it seems like everyone is ok and accounted for though one of them was near one of the expolosions.

The news is reporting that land line and cell phone service are down or swamped but E-mail is up and running. People are encouraged to use the later to try to contact friends and loved ones.

Yes, we Americans have been thinking about our British friends constantly. The newspapers keep marvelling at your spirit and resilience and saying how we Americans need to learn from you. There was an excellent quote in the Chicago Tribune today about your resilience, from a Japanese poet, Masahide: "Barn's burnt down -- now I can see the moon."

Please accept our heartfelt condolences, and it is so inspiring to see how you move on with courage and determination.
