Glad to hear that it is making it into the Texas market. Victory must be doing very well.

I got a sixxer of the Hop-Devil from the Yellow Store in San Marcos a couple of weeks ago for poker night... I wasnt that impressed with it, I guess I was expecting a more balanced taste, like Dogfish.

It IS called Hop Devil. I found it a bit too much myself.

I had a sample of the Hopdevil on cask at the brewpub last Sunday. It was ok but they do a supreme mild on cask called Milltown Mild. It was the best beer I have had in a while.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hop Devil chaz sent me last year... but "balance" isn't part of its job description, if you know what I'm saying. :)

Yeah, I guess I shoulda' figured it'd be 'over the top' on the hoppiness, but to me it tasted like it was brewed with lawn clippings... :p
On another note, I cant wait till HEB gets their pumpkins in so I can do some Spiced Pun'kin Ale... It was a huge success last year.

Cool! I just finished up a sixer of the HopDevil and really enjoyed it! I haven't got to try the Golden Monkey, so I'll be looking for it on my next trip to TX. ;)

over the top hoppy on hopdevil? I know I have said this before but I just dont get it. There are many beers that fit that description, but imo this aint one of them.

Yeah, I agree it's hoppy, but not exactly over the top. I could really get used to having it in my fridge all the time, right next to the DFH 60 and the Bridgeport ESB.

Victory's hopping does have a distinct grassiness(or hay like character) about it. The Prima Pils is too grassy for me but, I like Hop Devil well enough. Now Golden Monkey is a very, very good interpretation of a Belgian Golden, IMO.

Jeff - you chose to live between "no" and "where". Don't complain ;)

I look forward to having Victory beers again. I love the Pils, I can't wait to try their helles, and I like the Hop Devil. When I think of great U.S. breweries, they're up there.

They do indeed make some excellent beers. They routinely have two beers on hand pull in the pub. Hop Devil is usually one of them and they rotate the other. They make a tremendous beer called Milltown Mild that I have had in the pub only. Very nearly duplicates some of the beers I had in England.
