Looks like Whole Foods contracts with Goose Island to make their own Lamar Street beer. Anyone tried it?

Hmm, any idea what kind o' beer it is?

Hmm (again), BA has 3 listed; APA, Blonde Ale, and APA...I'm Betting that Lamar St. and Lamar St. Pale Ale are one and the same...Based on Jason's notes, I'd lay good odds that the APA is the Honker's Ale, not sure about the Blonde.

Isn't the Honkers an ESB, not an APA?

I have seen the bottles but never tried it. Now that I know GI makes it I'll have to try some.

I really, really like the Goose Island beers but I've found the Lamar brews to be lacking. Strange thing that.

The Goose Island beers that Trader Joes contracts are also lacking, IMHO. I get the feeling GI may not put the same effort in the contract brews then there own from what I have seen/tasted.

I like all the GI beers I have tried too. I'm curious about the Lamar.

What beers are Goose doing for TJ's? I knew Gordon Biersch was making 3 lagers and a weizen for them, but didn't know G.I. was contracting too.

Bruno - Honkers is an APA, I see BA lists it as a Bitter (but not an ESB), but don't know why. It's much hoppier than any Bitter I've ever had. The Goose web site calls it an APA too.

Some are sold under the Stockyard label, I know that there is an amber, an oatmeal stout and also the Black Toad Dark Ale which is a porter and a seperate label.

I'll have to look for them the next time I'm in TJ's. Can you mix and match a six-pack as you can the German styles?

All the TJ's around here let you no matter what the brand. Don't know about the stores in your area.

I was at a tasting Will Turner hosted last night and this question came up. He said they make beers for both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. He mentioned for TJ's the amber (Kilgubbin red), stout (Outmeal Stout) and the black toad (Hex Nut Brown). He said he wasn't positive but thought they were the same recipes as the corresonding Goose beers I mentioned above.
