This in from Norms:
New! Dogfish Head Liquor de Malt
$7.99
Limited availability; due in Friday. A 40-ounce, bottle-conditioned
malt liquor (7% ABV) brewed with Apache Red (red), Hickory King (white),
and Taos Blue (blue) corns. The "All-American" malt liquor is packaged
with a hand-stamped, Dogfish Head brown paper bag.
New! Russian River Brewing Company Damnation Golden Ale
$9.99/750ml
Due in Friday. In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some
brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name.
Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other
times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster's
interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has
extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of
sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly
bitter but very, very smooth.

The beast is back! With a price jump, too. Paid $5-6 last time around. Might pick one up for old time's sake, but $8+ for a malt liquor that is sure to wreak havoc on you? Ambitious.
And good call on the Russian River. I'll be camped at their booth tomorrow at the American Beer Fest. For anyone not in N. Cali or the mid-Atlantic, you can order RR brews at their online store - limited number of shipping states available:

Cheers!

I'm going to rush right out and not buy any LDM. I give props to the DFH folks for trying something new and wacky, but the LDM is really not that good. Nice packaging, but I generally don't drink the labels/bottles/bags.

Uh oh, more malt liquor comments. Did they fix the cap problem?? I am surely interested in some. As for RR, he also has Redemption and Salvation but not bottled. All very good brews. I just wish he bottled the Pliny.

Looks like it will be the same type caps. I thought the first time it was brought out it was sort of a joke. I never expected round two.

So I hear. White plastic caps this time around? I never had the leakers that some of you had - thankfully.

LOL! I think they should bring the price down. Make it discount stuff to really give the "feel"

I agree. I bet it's because of all those fancy corns. Oh well.

it really is better as a joke, i mean the proper way to drink it is with it still inside the brown paper bag, walking along the boardwalk in rehobeth, so you look like some kinda yuppie homeless guy. I kinda like the stuff though, but that really is kinda expensive.

Give me a Sixty or Ninety Minute any day. Wonder If DFH sells sixtels....?

I picked some up at Norm's this weekend and plan on trying it for the first time tonight. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it) I couldn't find it anywhere last year.
I will not be denied again!

What color are the caps on the bottles. The black capped bottles I got from the brewpub last year were prone to leakage.

All four (yes, I bought four) have white caps. They didn't come with the brown paper bags like last year. Don't know if that was too politically incorrect to re-create for this year.

Let us know what you think of it. I still have two bottles left from last year.

They do. I have one each of 60 minute and India Brown Ale inside the kellerator at the moment. Be warned the price on these is pretty steep compared to most.

The 60 is a fine beer. How much steeper? I see Blue Grey in Fredericksburg has sixtels too.

Twice as much as Dominon. They were $79 each. Ouch! Still that's only $1.44 a beer. :D

I was going to make a joke at Abita (and your expense) but I'll pass. ;) Let's just say I'm not a fan, though for some inexplicable reason I'll neck some Dixie when given the chance. Funny thing that.
There certainly are some cheaper choices, they had Fordham for $93 a 1/2. Well I say they had, when I showed up to get it, being the beer I went for in the first place, it ended up not being in stock.
The price breakdown around here seems to be (1/2 keg price) $40-65 for swill (from Iron City to Bud), $55-80 midling (Molson to Yeungling), $85-125 micros (Foggy Bottom to Anchor), $95-200 imports and whacked out stuff.
Most shops that carry kegs seem to have Bud, Miller Lite, Sam Adams, and Sierra Nevada, everthing else has to be ordered.

I've said before I'm not a huge abita fan - I like turbodog kinda, but it's all a bit blah - dixie's blackened voodoo is pretty good - I have some in my fridge now.
it's $80 for abita and $75 for bud at that store. i was just bringing it up because those sixtels were the same price

I opened one last night after two rigorous games of softball. I made it through about half before the 7% abv started kicking in and I got too sleepy to continue.
By far, the best tasting "40" I've had. To me, it starts off tasting like a nice strong ale, but kind of falls flat on the finish. I will definitely enjoy sharing the rest with friends and family over the summer.
I great/fun idea, but I've enjoyed other beer from DFH a lot more than this.
