Made an American Pale Ale today with 6 lbs of light DME, 2 c. Carapils and 2 c. of Crystal 20L. I added a can of Alexanders Pale LME (4lbs) to kick it up some. The hops were 1.5 oz. Cascade pellets for 45 min and will dry hop with 1 oz Willamette whole. I think I need to up the hop bill. Should I add another oz. of the Willamettes when I dry hop or leave it alone. Was going to dry hop during secondary in a corny. Brewday always leaves me pie-eyed for some reason and I didn't think of the fermentables that would be present so my ferm times will probably be longer. Any help would be greatly appreciated?

that's a pretty big beer, (1.095 OG per ProMash), and not very bitter (only 28 IBU's, well below the APA style guidelines...) the dry hopping will give you more aroma, but won't add any bitterness. what kind of yeast did you use? if it doesn't ferment quite a ways down, it may end up being pretty malty...
it will certainly be drinkable, but I'd hesitate to enter it in a contest, especially as an APA...
go download the free trial copy of ProMash, it will help you immensely with designing recipes, even with extract...

or go to BeerTools.com (http://www.beertools.com) and sign up for a free account. The recipe calculator is a cool bugger and there's a bunch of other people's recipes to browse through.
Don't forget you can always blend this beer with a lower OG more highly hopped beer to bring it more in line with what you want.
Where is Hopland, USA anyway?

I've never used the stuff, so I don't actually know if this works but couldn't you add liquid hop extract at this point? Or make hop tea from whole hops to add bitterness? Just a thought.

Wyeast 1056; I have the trial version of Promash; After seeing what I had done to the OG, wasn't for sure if there was anything I could do for the bittering.
Hopland is my fictional paradise that I dream about. I currently reside in the flatlands west of the windy city that is Chicago.
Thanks for the replies. The primary has begun with a bang and probably will continue for a while. The kicker to all of this is I just purchased a new carboy to get some other beers going, seeing how I have an Imperial Stout tying up the other carboy for the last 3 weeks.
