Just got this in from Dave Alexander:
Hiya Brickies
This is not your typical mailer. We're hosting the great guys from Southern California's Stone brewing June 27 for a beer dinner pairing many of their KICKIN beers with treats from our kitchen at RFD. Tickets are not yet on sale, but this ties in with something else as you are about to see. Stone brewing is very passionate about helping charities as we try to be so it was a no brainer to decide we'll donate a portion of the ticket price to Children's Hospital.
For those of you who haven't heard, the Brickskeller's daytime kitchen manager, Robert Evans, passed away suddenly a couple weeks ago. Robert worked for us for over 27 years and was a huge part of both our private and professional lives. It will take some time for us to realize the extent of our loss, we miss him greatly.
The Brickskeller is participating in Dick Gelfman's Ride Across Maryland - About the Ride
Saturday June 4. We will ride from Columbia Md to Ocean City to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Anyone coming to the upstairs Brickskeller bar either this Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and donatring a check for $25 (or more!) will be given a donor receipt. Your donation is 100% tax deductible. To thank you for donating to this worthy cause, BeerGuyDave will donate to each donor their choice of beers from our taps. Help cure breast cancer, have a free glass of Rodenbach! - please don't everybody choose Rodenback :) Those wishing to see how big the BeerGuys eyes get riding over the Chesapeake Bay bridge on his 29 year old Triumph must sign up and keep up. Please help us support this truly worthy cause. Life is precious, don't ya know.
Sorry for the sad news, next mailer will be more details about the up'comers. Stone brewing, several Smithsonian events, a night of impossible to find Irish beers, a night of RARE Irish Whiskies, an evening with Dylan Thomas, another fantastic 6 week beer series and so much more.
Cheerios Beerios and as always a PLEEEASE stay safe to all my buddies all over the world from your friendly neighborhood BeerGuyDave!

In case anybody keeps up with this sort of thing, I was upstairs at the Brickskeller last night and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were serving Unibroue's Maudite on tap. VERY good. I like it in the bottle, even better on tap.
They also had:
DFH 90 minute
Hoegaarden
Allaguer Cambonator Hofbrau Maibock (though they were out of this last night)
Leffe Bruin
Lindemans Framboise
Magic Hat HiPA
North Coast Rasputin imperial stout
Rodenbach
Schneider Aventinus
and Stella Artois
I was mostly drinking the Maudite and Leffe. YUM!
K.
(PS, my local liquor store has started carrying Victory brews. Picked up a 6 of the Witbier and Lager the other day, but haven't tired them yet. I love the Hopdevil and the Golden Monkey so I'm really looking forward to it.)

THis is the newest from Dave Alexander. The Stone tasting looks really great.
We have a lot of events coming up, I’ll be sending out a mailer next week discussing all the cool stuff coming to our beeropolis but for now -
TICKETS for the STONE BREWING BEER DINNER are NOW ON SALE!
This event is being held in RFD’s back room on Monday, June 27th. (810 7th St NW, about 50 yards from the Red Line Chinatown/Gallery Place metro) Tickets can be had by calling 202-289-2030. My door staff asks that those joining other parties tell the person taking their reservation what other names of reservations will be sitting with them so we can set the room properly and keep the line moving smoothly before the event. Doors open at 6, we never start at 7.
Lots of great beer and delicious food, guests from San Diego’s fantastic Stone Brewing Company and more. I’ve wanted to bring these guys to DC for a long time, come out and meet them as we sample their beers and hear their stories. Yanno, a lot of what happens in the brewing world behind the 6-packs goes unseen. Many of you know our dedication to local charity but probably don’t know about Stone’s. When we first talked about doing this dinner the first thing they said was “What charity can we use this event to help?” These guys have also been incredibly supportive events I’ve held featuring west coast beers, helping me arrange shipping and stuff like that. So while you’ve known about their incredible ability to brew some of the finest hoppy beers on earth, you now know this is truly a wonderful organization. These guys are cool as heck. C’mon down and support them! Tickets for this one night only event are just $45.00
$45.00 for a five course meal and a bunch of great beers and stories from the great guys at Stone Brewing sounds cheap, but we’re donating $5 from each ticket sold to Children’s Hospital and we’ll also have some cool things for our bartop auction also benefiting Children’s Hospital so WE MUST BE NUTZOCRAZEEBONKERS!!!!
I’m pretty sure all the Stone beers will be on draught, I may have a COOL surprise on the other taps for that evening as well for those wishing to have a sip before programs start.

BIGNEWS! RUSSIAN RIVER BEER IS NOW ON DRAUGHT IN DC!
TONIGHT at the Brickskeller we will introduce RUSSIAN RIVER IPA on draught! Russian River’s award winning owner/brewmaster Vinnie Cilurzo has done many events with us over the years and is a fine example of everything that is right with the craft beer industry. Vinnie is credited with inventing the now wildly popular Double I P A style and is one of the country’s leading edge brewers of west coast hoppy ale styles. This is truly a remarkable moment in the history of craft brewing. We will do all we can to get as many of his fantastic brews east and in addition to the Brickskeller introducing his DEE-lish IPA tonight, We will also introduce his also incredible Pliny the Elder (the first Double IPA ever commercially produced) AND his kickin Belgian style golden ale DAMNATION on draught this week at RFD! (probably Monday, definitely by Tuesday, we have to clear a couple taps)
RFD is in the process of installing a bank of High Definition plasma TV’s, look for them to be up and running in the next week or so.
Speaking of Vinnie Cilurzo and Russian River, we have another Smithsonian Beer series coming up starting July 11 with none other than Vinnie himself heading the lineup! Surf on over to their website
http://residentassociates.org/com/beer_gazetteer.asp to sign up for yet another fantastic lineup of craft brewing gems. Wed., July 6, 7 p.m. A BRICKSKELLER LITERARY EVENING
Dylan Thomas—The Man Behind the Myth
http://residentassociates.org/celtic/thomas.asp
This lively evening of discussion is highlighted by readings from the poet’s work and previously unpublished recordings of Dylan Thomas reading his own work. David Ponting, a professional actor who developed a one-man show on the poet and performed it for many years, and Owen Sheers, a writer and poet who was recently selected as one of PBS’s 20 Next-Generation Poets and was writer-in-residence at the Wordsworth Trust in the Lake District, take you on a journey through the life of Dylan Thomas. Meet the poet behind the performer, the man behind
July 19 the Celtic Connection - The Spirits of Ireland (at RFD 810 7th St NW)
http://residentassociates.org/celtic/spirits.asp
In this intoxicating evening, John Teeling, chairman of the Cooley Distillery, the only independent, Irish-owned distillery on the Emerald Isle, leads you through an Irish whiskey tasting that is sure to stimulate the palate. Dating back to the 1970s, Cooley extended its pedigree by acquiring Locke’s Distillery in Kilbeggan, the oldest licensed distillery in the world (founded 1757). Sample up to six single-malt and blended whiskeys—some familiar to American audiences, some not—in this guided tasting.

(information subject to change)
We’re working on an event for mid October that we are so excited about we jes can’t sit still long enough to type it out. Do you remember the most famous nightclub on earth? Havana’s legendary Tropicana? How cool would it be to meet one of the owners and hear some stories about the place? How cool would it be if there was no cover charge? Pretty cool? OK we’ll work on it. More info later, cool yer jets. I’ve already got the fake palm trees.

Newest from brother Dave Alexander:
Just a realquik note about the Russian River leftovers and next Monday.
We are pouring the remnants of the Russian River 5.25 gal logs upstairs at the Brick now. Don’t blink, you’ll miss ‘em. We spent a couple of the kegs at the event, we are pouring their Belgian Witbier, Little White Lie right now. We will move to their incredible Belgian style Perdition, then their TRIPLE IPA Pliny the Younger. These kegs are practically empty so you might not get to taste them – YET. After those are gone we move to a partially spent 15.5 gal keg of Blind Pig IPA. This is the first double IPA ever brewed, not only is it historically significant to the craft brew world but it is DELICIOUS. After the Blind Pig is gone we will move to their IPA and finish that 15.5 gal keg. THEN we move to a 15.5 gal keg of another of their great Belgian styles, Damnation. By then we should get a shipment of a full range of their beers in full kegs and…well..we have something very special planned for the arrival of that mother lode.
This Monday, July 18th, we are presenting a first timer on the Brick’s stage, Dick Cantwell of another fantastic west coast brewery. Seattle Washington’s great Elysian Brewery. Dick is bringing six beers you haven’t seen on this coast yet. You CAN purchase individual tickets to these Smithsonian tastings! Ticket price is $35.00, available at the door upstairs at the Brick Monday night. Doors open at six, the Smithsonian events DO start at 7(!)
I’ll send out a more detailed Email in a couple/few days regarding upcoming Smithsonian events, charitable opportunities and some WAYKEWL special events we’re going to have REALSOON!
