Brewers Summer Games raises money for local charities
Pacific City, OR, May 25, 2005 – The second annual Brewers Summer Games will be held on June 11th, from 12-9pm on the beach at Cape Kiwanda. All proceeds from the two-part event will be donated to two local charities: the Nestucca Boosters and the Caring Cabin. The event, organized by the Pelican Pub & Brewery and the Brewers Summer Games Coordinating Committee, is open to people of all ages and admission is free.
The first part of Brewers Summer Games 2005 is a beer festival, with participating breweries supplying the beverages for the beer and root beer gardens. Entry into the gardens (including a commemorative cup) is free, and tickets are required for purchase of beer and root beer. Tickets are $1 each or 12 for $10. A full cup costs four tickets, or you can pay one ticket for a taste. Two local charities will benefit from the proceeds. The Nestucca Boosters supports athletics and extracurricular activities in the local schools, and the Caring Cabin is a retreat for children undergoing cancer treatment.
The second part of the event is the Brewers Games. Each participating brewery brings a team to compete in a series of eight events involving skill, cunning, and brute force for a chance at the coveted Grand Champion Altitude Cup. Bridgeport Brewing will be defending their title against the other teams in contests like the keg toss, yeast balloon toss, and the heart-pounding dune-to-surf race!
Live music will round out the day from 5-9pm. Food will be provided by local food vendors including the Pelican Pub & Brewery, T & S Oyster Farms, Harvest Fresh Deli and The Delicate Palate.
