Just got off the phone with my wife and she said "the beer exploded again". That makes a primary explosion and after waiting two days after inactivity, then racking, a secondary "explosion".

She is afraid to touch the airlock (I know, get her more involved), if she doesn't get up the nerve to clean and refill the lock, will I be OK?

I don't get home until Thurs night so I'm kind of stuck.

The precautions we take to prevent infection are just that, precautions. Beer isn't all that prone to infection, it's just a major pain when it does happen.

You could be unlucky but your beer will probably be ok.
