Hi any and all, and perhaps especially fretlessman71,

I'll be soon traveling to Denver and Phoniex...any recommnedations for Brew Pubs (with food) or local beers not to be missed?

Thanks!

Wynkoop Brewery is in Lower Downtown (LoDo), and it is not to be missed. This is the brewpub that Denver's current mayor started many many years ago. Great place to start!

Great Divide is also in the area, not too far from Coors Field, but I'm not sure it's an actual eatery.

Also down there is Breckenridge Brewing, Sandlot Brewing (part of Coors Fleld!), Flying Dog, and not to mention the Falling Rock Tap House, which has over 110 beers on tap I think... some huuuge number like that.

If you have time to travel north an hour to Fort Collins, the New Belgium Brewery tour is always fun!

Many thanks, fretlessman! We'll check some of these out, most definitely. I had a Great Divide Herculues not long ago...good stuff.

Hey, by way of thread closure, we had a great time pub crawling in Denver. As per fret's suggestion we started at Wynkoop's, then to Breckenridge, then to Flying Dog. At Wynkoops, we compared tasting notes with a couple of funny guys (a pair of brothers in town on family business) who ended up following us along the way. We had samples of dang near everything, but in the end Flying Dog was the clear fav. It was, uh, nice to be able to walk back to our hotel.

The next day, I had a sorta-business meeting with someone at the Marriott downtown and was thrilled that the hotel lounge where we were meeting served Great Divide on all taps--very nice IPA.

Can't say that the microbrews (at least on draft) at Coor's field were much to write about.... Great ballpark, though.

The last day we went to the Bull and Bush--we had a great time there! The green chili and mashed potatos (!) could be very addicting. We were very disappointed that they were out of Man Beer t-shirts but not disappointed in Man Beer.

Down south, we visited Gentle Ben's in Tucson (more business so we didn't get to sample, though I enjoyed the IPA). Four Peaks in Tempe was an excellent brew pub and the samples for the most part were very tasty. The microbrew selection at the BOB were much worse than Coors field. $9 for a SNPA :< when we would have preferred something local.

Have beer, will travel!
