Well I've been thinking of hosting a beer tasting thing-a-ma-jig at the pad. inviting a few real beer drinkers over and a couple of potential converts. Then having a beer tasting session. i need a theme ...., i was thinking around the world type thing. start with some west coast beers(stone, hair of the dog) then move to the midwest???over to the east coast (dogfish) then the u.k. germany, belgium...ect you get the idea. but i can't give someone a taste of say ruination then expect them to be able to enjoy a rochefort 10 to its fullest potential? what order of beer styles should i go in???? and what are some good beers from around the world. anyone ever done anything of this nature before??? any tips or suggestions would be appreciated?? thnx

i would narrow your "theme" a bit. while i like the idea of a world tour, you would have to do multiple beers from a country in order to convey the taste of a region. germany for instance, you might do an octoberfest, a hefe, a pils. ireland, you think stout, but what about irish red. and not to mention the various styles of belgium. (and thats not to mention all the great american micros) if i were you i might do a summer beer tasting (a pils, an apa, ipa, a hefe, plus a number of special seasonal american micros. you could even do a background on each beer (ie where its from, how it represents the region from where its from, and such) if you dont like this idea , maybe highlight a specific geographical region. hope this helps (but whatever you do order the beers from light to heavy)
