$11.00 Wow. Kinda steep. I guess it's capitalism at its finest. Someone is making some money.

Yup. But people still pay it. Based on the dusty relics I see hanging out on retailer shelves, I'll probably wait for a trip to Belgium to get a hold of any Westvleteren beers.
And $11 isn't much more than some US craft brewers charge for their brews. $15 Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock. $10 DFH 120 Minute IPA. Etc.
Cheers!

not to mention you just can't find it anywhere!
on that note I've managed, somehow, to become net buddies with a fella in brussels... he's promised to make a *holiday* of going to the abbey to buy me some :D

Nice list!
Watch out on the Victory V10. That one was so plagued with trouble they won't do it again. There's a thread around here somewhere on the Victory Vintages.
OT: didja see the story on the RB home page about the beer tax increase in Ohio getting scrapped. Good news for you, Hark!

There may be a reason for that. I haven't seen any on the shelves since 2002/2003 - and it may have been old then. It's listed as "retired" on BA and their last rating is from 2003. On RateBeer, ratings are sporadic after 2003 - a handful in '04 and some for '05, though they all seem to be from Europe. No mention of the IPA on the new Samuel Adams site, either. Yikes!
If the beer truly is bad (or even not enjoyable), demand a refund! Also, let Boston Beer Co. know there's IPA still out there for sale. If it truly is old, they probably don't want it on the shelf.
Otherwise, nice haul!
Cheers!

Oh, I see... you got an email. Yeah, I just got one too. I told them to hold the rest of the order for me until the Westy 12 showed up (after all, it's not like I don't have any beer to drink in the interim). Might do them a spot of good to list that as "out of stock" until they get the new shipment in, wouldn't you say? Or maybe we just got in on it after the last bottle had been ordered?...

You are going to have to wait a little while longer, for your Westvleteren. The monks have not brewn for the last two months, +/-. All next brews will go to their pub "De Vrede". No collecting at the gates, for the moment being. Everybody is cursing these days.

As an aside, I used to order from Vintage Cellar a lot. Hell, I used to buy from them when I was in Blacksburg but that's another story.
I have found that their service is good and cheap BUT the website is not often updated so it is best to call their 800 number. Plus, you can ask for "any new stuff" and often pick up a surprise or two.
I would highly recommend asking for Mitch -- he has always done a good job for me.

Thanks for the welcome.
As said, these days everybody is hungering (though I have some old ones left :p ). So far, I have resisted trading via post, though I've had many's the offer at Ratebeer. In person, no problem, but I do not thrust that sending, and it costs the earth here.
Cheers, Joris

I've had St. Bernardus Abt 12, Trappiste Rochefurt 10 but I can't find Westy 12 anywhere. I REALLY want to try it.
I'm Christian and I've never understood the biblical justification for the recluse monk lifestyle, until I realized that they copied bibles in the middle ages to the time of the first printing presses- - thus ensuring the Word carried on through time, and they made the best beer on the planet, clearly a gift from God.

Difficult to say. Sales have picked up again, but restrictions (1 crate pro car) are draconic. Also, the number of cars queuing is scary. They will not brew more, full stop. Once the summerseason, and the visitors of De Vrede have gone, it will be better. As to foreign exports, that's anyones guess.
