I have 8 ozs of Crystal malt, 8 ozs of Malto-Dextrin and 4 ozs of Black patent malt. Do I steep these all at 1 time or do I do it seperatly? Through em' all in 1 bag? Never done this before. This is a Bock with 6#'s amber lme.

Will I do this in the 3 gallons of boiled water or in a smaller amount of water? This will be for a 5 gallon batch.

I used to do it in about 3 gallons of water, I would then rinse the sack when I was done with the additional 2 gallons. My suggestion would be to make the "tea" in teh largest volume of water you can. All water added after the fact will only dilute it.

Make sure that you keep the temp below 170. You will extract off flavors (tannins) that will make the beer astringent if the steep is too hot.

155 is a good temp for doing this.

Make sure you remember to leave room in the pot for the extract. Just about every time I brew, I realize the wort is too big after adding the extract to it.
