Saw this article on another web site. Got to love the rich history of Catholics and beer.

Every christian country I've been to drinks heavily, not just beer. As for the new pope............. lets just hope he keeps drinking the good stuff. Xtalman, since you're near, have you been to Lucky Baldwins? Stuffed Sandwich??

No not yet. Just heard about the Stuffed Sandwhich recently. Don't really get out much due to the family. Wife likes me home and finding a sitter has proven difficult since we have no family in the area.

Ah reality. Just know both places are food joints and kids are welcome. You have the same affliction that Hopjack has. I would be in that bracket also but my wife ( so far, even though she has just threatened to change ) has been very generous.

I would think the Pope and beer would be a good mix. Beer is the universal drink. The drink of kings and the common man.
I remember David Peel and the Lower East Side put out an album called "the Pope Smokes Dope" in the early 70s.

Got this picture in an email the other day with a note saying:
With the first German Pope in hundreds and hundreds of years, certain liturgical reforms are being enacted ... see photo.

Got that one too, been meaning to work some better Photoshop™ magic on it. I mean, c'mon - why blow up a photo of a .5l stein when there are so many 1 or 2 liter (even 5 liter) steins that would fit the bill. Uh, pulpit. ;)
