Can you fine a beer that is partially carbonated?

If not what is the best way to uncarbonate a keg?

Will releasing the carbonation, fining, and then re-carbonating harm the beer (as long as all proper precautions are observed)?

Sorry this isn't a definitive answer, but here I go:

Beer can be fined whilst it is still slowly fermenting or is under slight pressure in the fermenting vessel. In fact, British real ale is fined in the cask, so I suggest you try to judge whether it is more or less carbonated than real ale (because I'm sure high carbonation would have an effect).

Also, the carbonation shouldn't make any difference at all to the fining if the beer isn't actually fizzing (i.e. it is still under pressure in the keg/cask).

I say go for it (and I apologise for the rambling post).

How are you enjoying our Pacific Northwest, Stronk?

The beer is about as carbonated as a cask ale, so I guess I will give it a shot, worst thing that can happen is nothing.

Yeah, it should be fine (geddit?!).

BC is a pretty cool place. In fact, a couple of my friends are now emigrating to live in BC after spending 3 months here. The beer's pretty good, too. I love the way micros are really not much more expensive than macros. In fact, I've just discovered quite a nice hefeweizen, brewed by Granville Island Brewing in Vancouver. Good on tap and bottle conditioned (as you'd expect).
