Lucky Baldwins owner David Farnworth is opening another establishment in Sierra Madre at the site of the former Sierra Madre Brewing Co.
21 Kersting Court, Sierra Madre 91024

Delirium Pub & Cafe will also offer "to go" service on bottles, kegs and hopefully growlers.

Opening May or June...

Can't wait.:p

Cool! I understand that the Delirium Tremons Bar in Belgium may take the place of the Brickskeller in Guinness Book of World Records as having the most beers available soon.

wish more of these good beer joints would show up on the westside. (not that i spend any time in LA but when i do, i'd like somewhere cool to drink, and i get kinda tired of the hipster crowd at father's office).

Student, that's why you need to go to Naja's. It's in Redodndo Beach, north side off the pier. "Hipster"is not a word I would use with that crowd. As for the new "Baldwins" , when Dave told me all I could think of is that it's FARTHER for me. Oh well.

This is excellent news for me. Not only is it closer for me, but it is right around the corner from a coffee shop my wife loves to frequent!

I have been to the SM brewing company a few times, but was never impressed. I will definately frequent the new pub much more often than Lucky B's.

Booyah!

I wish I could stay happy, but I have to get back to writing a paper.

By the way...

"May or June?"

Anything more specific? I was just there last weekend. They were out of a couple of there beers, so maybe they're running down thier stock. May isn't very far away...

I was there last week and Dave said, ..."May ???" :D

That's why I posted May or June.

The Barleywine Fest was great. Anyone else go?

But of course. Got to taste ALL the ones he had the first day. My crazy buddy Curtis ordered a Delirium Tremens. He was quickly chastized. Didn't go back though to see if Dave snuck some others in later in the week. I was very happy about the one day. Jason from Naja's was complaining that no one was really making a lot of barleywine this year. We are lucky that Dave has his stashes. Some of those older ones were deeeeelish.

Anyone know if this place ever opened? I was up that way in early May and it wasn't open then.

As for exceeding Brickskeller in number of beers - I was not that impressed with Brickskeller. They do have a lot of beers but because of this they don't rotate the stock like it should be. All of the beers are stored in a lighted cooler and some become a little less than they were when they left the brewery. Also, the food is not that great.

Only some of the beers are in the cooler behind the bar. They are rotated. They store the bulk of the beer in walk in refridgerated store rooms. They do occasionally have beers past prime if no one happens to order them. I guess that is the price to pay for having a huge selection. I'm certain any place that has over 1,000 different beer selections will probably have this problem. The food is good if you know what to order. That is the tricky part. But obviously you are going to the Brick for the beer and not the food.

Still not open. My wife and I stopped by there on Monday and there was a sign up that said it will be another 4 to 6 weeks.

Boooo!

I wonder of they'll host there own festivals...
