My little trip to Europe (Germany, Netherlands and Belgium) has unfortunately come to an end. I was able to try 93 different beers while I was there, mostly in Belgium. I was going for 100, but I just didn't have time. Westvleteren 12 and Rodenbach were definately among my favorites. I kept a list, but since I'm at work I probably shouldn't spend too much time on this forum:rolleyes:

Hopjack13, you out there? I brought back some Westvleteren. Got any of that 120?

I hope you enjoyed your sampling experience in Belgium. As I've only joined this forum recently, it's too late to give you the pointers you asked for in the first thread, but let's make it up next time.
Have you had a chance to taste the Grand Cru version of Rodenbach?

I am glad you had a great time in Belgium-I know this sounds a bit off-given this forum-but I reach a point where I am beered out-this happens after hitting many brewpubs in a short time-

It was harder to find, but I did have it a couple times. The second time I had it side by side with the "normal" Rodenbach, and there honestly wasn't much difference. I took notes on the tasting, but since I am at work  I can't consult them at the moment...

I brought back a few bottles, so maybe I'll have to try again.

Yah, I tried some Westmalles, and I liked them all. My favorite of theirs was probably the double, but the triple was quite good too. The blonde wasn't bad, but in general I'm not a huge fan of blondes. (My wife not included :D )

One thing that has annoyed me since coming back is that Leffe Blonde is pretty easy to find, but none of the other Leffes are available. Leffe Blonde is not thier best offering.

I really wish I was back in Belgium. I want to go during the hop season next time, 'cause I heard some restaurants around Popperige actually use hops in their meals in various ways. These next two years of waiting will be tough...

I lived in Chicago for about year (1999-2000), and they had Leffe Triple at our local Treasure Island.

Hop shoots are a delight, but the season is very short (generally last weeks of March and first weeks of of April). You should try the restaurant Hommelhof in Watou near Poperinge. They use hop shoots to create fine dishes, and serve them with a choice of great beers.

Hello all i'm new to these boards this is my first post. :)

I was in belgium in early 2003 and the best found pub was the KULMINATOR in antwerp. In the oldest town in Belgium, Tongeren, we could get a rodenbach gran cru for a euro thirty at the hostel bar. Small town prices but still amazing. Plenty of other places worth mentioning but this forum is empty practically.
