I have a OG 1.072 IPA with Wyeast 1072 (American Ale 2) in the primary.

The airlock is doin the Lindy Hop (almost an open flow of gas), but no real large krausen production. The smallest ever?

Is bigger really better?

The temp is 64 degrees? Is that too cold?

What is going on?

if you have a vigorous fermentation as evidenced by the airlock activity, then 64 is not too cold.

btw, i thinks its #1272, not 1072
from Wyeast's webpage:
1272 American Ale Yeast II. Fruitier and more flocculent than 1056, slightly nutty, soft, clean, slightly tart finish. Accentuates hop character at warmer fermentation temperatures with intense fruitiness. Flocculation - high; apparent attenuation 72-76%. (60-72° F, 15-22° C)

as far as having a small krausen... you shouldn't feel too inadequate. ;)

Rather, be glad, because it will just make racking and clean up easier.

Whew!

I was concered that I would be made fun of around the keggerator.

Now that I have some encouragement concerning my small krausen, I feel much better.

Thank you.

And yes YXS...Its 1272 not 1072.

AN UPDATE ON THIS BEER:

Vigorous fermentation began at 6 hours and has continued at a fast clip for 5 days!
