So I tried Full Sail's Rip Curl last weekend. It blew me away. I have never tasted a beer that had that much up front malt taste. It was like crunching on fresh malt grain, it was that malty. Does anyone have a recipe (extract or partial mash) that even comes close to that? I tried looking through the Recipator (www.hbd.org/recipator) but got overwhelmed pretty quickly, I don't even know what style to start looking under.
Thanks!
:) Toney.

im not sure how much this will help, but this is what their website had to say about rip curl
"This tasty copper ale was originally called White Cap brewed in honor of our 15th Anniversary. Everyone liked the beer so much; we decided to release it year-round. To avoid any perceived consumer confusion, we changed the name to Rip Curl to celebrate the ripping winds and whitecaps of the Columbia River Gorge," It's a thirst quenching easy drinking copper ale that has smooth wave of maltiness that crests to a clean fast finish. Brewed with a blend of specialty Caramel and Pale malt and balanced with East Kent Golding, Challenger & Fuggle hops. Rip Curl will also be available on draught in 1/2 & 1/4 bbls."
-this might be a start for you anyway

You might contact the company and see if the have a clone recipe... If I was the production brewer, I would NOT be threatened by HomeBrewers...in fact it would seem like a great way to get your product advertised via word of mouth.

The Rip Curl is great, its very unfortunate that my liquor store isn't stocking it right now. Hopefully this inconveinence is only temporary. ;) Peace, HN-
