my second batch of homebrew, made at the recent Big Brew at Maryland Homebrew turned out great. i can not believe how wonderful this beer tastes.
i made the California Common but used White Labs California Ale yeast instead of the lager yeast as the recipe called for. i think the beer could have benefited from a spell in a secondary carboy to help clear it up, but the over all taste is great.
homebrewing rulez ;)

congrats strongbad...errr...asciibaron ;)
yeah, i too think homebrewing rules. i only got batch 6 in the primary right now, but i've got about 20 gallons of beer going in either fermenters or bottles...i love this hobby and the beer is better than 90% of the stuff out there...even better...it's crafted to your own personal tastese...that's what i really like...there are some great beers out there, and i like trying to replicate them or even make them more to my liking.

Nice! Congrats on a successful brew.
I love to brew. I just put a Steam/ Ca. Common in the keg the other day. It is all carbonated and tastes really good. :p Been doing it for about 2 and a half years now. Still don't know why I didn't start sooner.

Great!!! How's it taste?
My Cali Common has a Sam Adams- like grainy taste with a hint of wine...my wife really likes it.
I just may try your variation, it sounds good.
b3s,
Batch 6?
I lost count, I know I started in Feb. of this year, but I'm pushing 20 at least...
I ordered an Arrogant Bastad Ale clone and a Double chocolate stout today from Austin Homebrew...mmmmmmmmm...

I would be interested in the specs on this kit. Can you PM the ingredients list, if you have it, or is it online at their web site?

i dunno...just a guess on my part there's so much fricking beer here...there were the two extract only beers, then the partial grain (that was the stout), then a few all grains...hell, for all i know it could be more...but i only have the 1 primary and 2 secondaries, so it couldn't be much more.
all i know is that the ipa i'm drinking is about 8.5% alcohol and i've got some lakefront brewery cream city pale and some anchor brewery california common in the fridge....oh yeah, and a couple of 22 ouncers of ipa and stout in long term storage and another 10 gallons fermenting...beer rich, cash poor...

Austin Homebrew doesn't post thier ingredients, if you want to wait a week, I'll let you know what's in it when I get it...or you could probably call them.
I tried an Arrogant the other day for the first time...I have only three words to describe it....
Ho Ly Sh*t........
I have never in my life tasted anything like that....
I can't even begin to imagine how you would clone that beer...
I'm dying to see the truck they bring the hops and malt in, because I know it's A-LOT.
I'm saving all of my Arrogant bottles for the clone, it's the only decent thing to do.
