And a happy St. Joseph's Day to you too! List some of the Starkbier names from Regensburg if you can - do they all follow the -ator tradition?

Prösselbräu is the only brewery here to still follow this tradition. Their brew is called "Palmator". There are more breweries here to brew Bock but Kneitinger for instance has their's in Winter. No clue why but it warms nicely :D

What is 'Bockbierzeit'?
What is the 5th season?
What are the other 4 seasons?
Is this a good reason to drink beer on St. Joseph's Day, the patron saint of all of us carpenters?
Does a carpenter need a good reason to drink beer?
And while I'm asking questions, what is the proper pronounciation of 'koelsch'? I plan on brewing some, but would feel better about it if I could pronounce it right.

The o with the umlaut (or 'oe' as translated) sounds like if you purse your lips for the letter 'o' and pronounce long 'e' thru it.
IIRC, that is...

Cheers! Rocket

(Launch Pad currently has a tasty example called Klingon Kolsch (6.2% abv) ontap.)

I still remember the Sufficator even though Sturm could not find it any more. On to May day!

Bockbierzeit is more commonly known as Starkbierzeit translating to Strong Beer Time.

What is the 5th season?

Sturm is altering the calendar in the Bavarian tradition for the betterment of good beer.

What are the other 4 seasons?

Same as usualy, just not as exciting as Starkbierzeit.

It just so happens that Starkbierzeit always begins on the weekend around St. Joseph's Day. The more religiously saavy may be able to tell us why this early Spring date may have been chosen.

You tell us!

While RocketMan has given a good instruction in the traditional German accent, I've always gotten away with a pronunciation of cole-shh.

Huh? Starkbierzeit has been a tradition in Bavaria for centuries (http://www.goworldtravel.com/ex/aspx/articleGuid.%7B8d736180-e770-4634-80a6-96d915358205%7D/xe/article.htm), as has Starkbier.

Now you have even more reason to go back!

I am contemplating taking my son this summer but He also wants a new car. He Graduates High School in June.
He wants a Jetta I think. So I may get him the car and wait a while to go to Germany with him. Depends on the exchange rate.
