questions about rust on bottle caps

everytime i sanitize my caps and let them dry i notice some rust on almost all of them. is it ok to just take a paper towel and wipe them all clean? and is it possible to put them in the silverware rack in the dishwasher on heat dry or will it ruin the seal? thnx

I wouldn't trust the heat dry due to the seals. Then again, I don't sanitize my caps and haven't had a problem yet, knock on wood...

I tear the bag open, drop what I need in sanitizer solution and use immediately.

Yeah, I don't let 'em dry either. I just take them straight out of the sanitizer. I have noticed rust before, and used them anyway with no problems. I don't seem to get that as much anymore for unknown reasons.
