Tonight I had this beer that was given to me by brew-t. It is a wonderful brown ale that I enjoyed very much.

It pours a nice rich brown color. It had a good malt nose that my wife said smelled like cheese. I don't know where she pulled that from but found it an interesting comment.

Not much hop character. The flavor comes from the malt which imparts a pleasant roasted coffe/nut taste. This is backed by it being a meduim bodied beer with good mouth feel.

I could see myself drinking many of this beer. My tastebuds found it to be as enjoyable as making a great glove save on the other teams hot shooter.

Big thanks for this one brew-t.

The only thing I can get off the bottle is 5.8% by volume.

I just noticed a stamp on the label of the bottle that calls it a strong pale ale. I would not have guessed thias from it's color.

Maybe BA will provide some more info or brew-t might jump in with his thoughts as he and the beer come from the same country.

If I find more info, I will post.

Thanks! It may be listed in the Oxford Bottled Beer Data Base too. I'll see if I can find it.

Some sites I found using Google refer to it as an ESB. I did not percieve enough hop character to call it that. My taste buds could have been off last night but my wife who is not a real hop person did not make her hop face or comments when she tasted it.
