Hey Guys,
I am trying to find out what the most popular beers are in America by volume of sales. Can anyone help me with some info?
Thanks,
Teddy

Welcome to the board. We had a thread recently that named the top 245 brewers in the country. I'll see if I can find it and give you the link.

Without too much thought I can tell you all of the top ten probably come from Anheuser Busch, SAB Miller, and Coors-Molson.

I haven't seen a by brand, but I did manage to find a list by brewery (http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5975&perpage=20&highlight=2003&pagenumber=3) (check the last page of the thread)... and Meridian is right, although I don't think that was much of a stretch... :D

City Brewing number 5? That seems a bit off, are they doing a lot of contract brewing there these days?

Hell, I can't even find a listing at BA. I know they've showed at a few local beer fests, and that they're in the old Heilleman facility, but how can they have hit #5?

Ya, okee - from Beer Me (http://beerme.com/breweries/us/wi/5706.shtml) (scroll down): "When they're not brewing beer, City manufacturers all of the Smirnoff Ice and Triple Back in the country, along with Mike's Hard Lemonade."

You think that's how they got their numbers up?

It also appears they've changed their name to the Bootie Brewing Co. (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/11074/). Uh huh. With the obvious, truly over-creative, marketing campaign of "Grab a Bootie." Hoo-boy, distressing.

Almost as distressing as seeing 7.5* of the top 10 breweries being swill makers.

S.

*Counted Yuengling as a half because so many have said the Porter isn't bad.

I'd think Bootie Brewing is more a "beer marketing company" who contracts their beer to City Brewing. Agreed, though - ridiculous. Can't see it lasting...

And I, for one, enjoy the Yuengling Lager more than their Porter...and I consider myself a porter fan. Not much going on there, imo.

Cheers!

Are they going to package in Forties? With a name like Bootie, sounds like they're embracing a stereotype...
