I just clean my keg and before I was to rack I wanted to run some hot water thru the lines. At this time the IN QD is really hard to get on and off the popet. Should I replace the QD or put lube on the grommet?

There is a lube designed for use on corny keg lid gaskets; I assume this would work on QD's as well.
Make sure the O-Ring is not getting frayed or torn...

I think I just solved my own problem. I went and disconnected the other out line on my other keg and tried to put it on the out of the clean keg same problem. Then I tried to put it on the in and it slipped right on. I wasn't aware that there is a difference between the in and out popets, nor do I know how to identify them as such.

OOPS! You've got to watch which poppets/ posts are which! They are different diameters!! If your kegs are the 'same' you can look at another one to try to discern the differences!
Good luck!

I just made note that the popet with the notches on the nut is the IN popet..
