Based on the discussion from my other post, I'm wondering how many homebrewer's "pour the yeast" into their glass when drinking homebrew?

It is too bad I can only choose one answer. Sometimes I drink right from the bottle, but when I pour I try not to get any sediment in the glass so I can enjoy the beauty of the craft.

Edit: for the record I voted for drinking from the bottle, since that is what I normally do.

have you noticed any "off flavors" from doing this? What I mean is, have you ever tried to pour your beer without pouring over the yeast, and comparing it to the exact same beer (and batch) drinking it as you usually do (with the yeast)?

I'm just wondering if there was a difference.

Basically, when not pouring the yeast i taste the beer, clear, clean and crisp.

When adding the yeast, there is a subtle yeast aroma, a sligtly different mouthfeel (kind of "slippery" hard to discribe) and a definate yeasty-bitter "aftertaste"

I put aftertaste in quotes, because it isn't always the last thing I taste. The type of beer determines what order the tastes hit my pallate, so sometimes my hops will kick in last.

Try getting 2 mugs, pouring half of the beer in each (not letting any yeast get in) and then roll your bottle sideways to stir up the yeast and dump it in one of the two. Then you can do a side by side comparasin and see for yourself
