Hello, Realbeer.com members,

I need your advice for a draft beer story I'm writing. Please tell me if you know of any U.S. restaurants (not pubs, taverns, or microbreweries) that do a good job of promoting their draft beers. Can be craft beers or even mainstream breweries' beers, as long as they're drafts. I'm trying to find places that use creative promotions (tastings, menu promotions, dinners, etc.) other than simple price cuts. I'm particularly interested in restaurants that have a reputation for great draft beers and how they've built that reputation. It can be any type of restaurant (fine dining, casual, casino, hotel/resort, etc.).

The article is for Restaurant Marketing, a business magazine that specializes in helping restaurant owners and managers run their operations more profitably and smoothly. My deadline for locating story sources is Jan. 17, so please respond quickly if this request interests you.

Also, if you don't recall the name of a particular restaurant to recommend to me, but you do remember a good draft beer promotion or have an original idea for one that a restaurant could use, please let me know!

Responding to this e-mail means you're giving me permission to reprint your response in our magazine. Let me know if it's OK to use your name and city, too.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Carolyn Bahm

Good luck, pal.

The only spot in San Antonio I can think to give mention to is "Salt Grass Steakhouse". They make and serve "Shiner Bock Beer Bread".

The bread is a dark color but soft and oh so warm and tasty. A definite winner!!!

If only I could duplicate this bread........:D

B.J.s Pizza in Woodland Hills, CA rates highly for unique brews and brew education nights.

Each Thursday a new Cask Conditioned Ale is uncorked to much fanfare and cheering. Its usually gone by Friday night.

The first Wednesday of each month they host a beer appreciation night. The master brewer hosts a talk about each beer sampled with the history of its development and uniqiue ingredients. This month was Domestic Winter Warmers...Yummm!

They also brewed a killer Millennium Ale for New Year's 2K. I am still trying to duplicate that wonderful recipe.
