SLOSHomebrewers

I run BrewCommune (http://www.brewcommune.com). I have tried (with only moderate to little sucess) to create a community of homebrewers simliar to what we have here.
The main goal of BrewCommune is to create a community that is completely free of commercial influences. We can be free to exchange information where we are not innondated with advertisements at every click. We can share brewing stories, recipes, problems and sucesses without feeling the pressure to buy something. However, there is an inherint problem with this. The internet today is not the free information sharing medium that it once was. Search engines are slammed full of people selling widgets, links to widgets, porno, and general junk. To overcome this, one must shout just as loud as their peers or not be heard. This means paying for advertising. I currently have no problem eating the costs for domain registration and hosting, but advertising is a bit too much. I will accept contributions to help with these costs, but I refuse to allow others to advertise on BrewCommune to advertise BrewCommune on other sites. I also am not interested in selling things on the site or charging for membership. This is all supposed to be free to all.
Here is what I am asking of you all:
1) What is it that has made this messageboard so successful?
2) What would make it more successful?
3) Why do you go to the BrewBoard and not to other sites like BrewCommune?
4) What are you willing to do to help?
I need help. I have a number of ideas, but I cannot do it all myself. I have a regular job and cannot write code, post, go to brewing events, and brew beer.
Keep in mind that I do have many features that I feel would be useful to the brewing community:
* Messageboard (www.brewcommune.com/phpBB)
* Photo Posting (www.brewcommune.com/coppermine)
* Blogging (www.brewcommune.com/phpBB/weblogs.php)
* Recipe Tools (www.brewcommune.com/phpBB/recipe.php)
* Calendar of Brewing Events (www.brewcommune.com/phpBB/calendar.php)
* General News (www.brewcommune.com)
Now we just need to get the word out there and share information!
Who's willing to help?!
Who's With Me?!
