I am planning to open an online Belguim beer store in the future. Only with the best beers available on the Belguim market, is this interesting to anyone?

Poperings Hommel Bier? That would be nice - have never seen it around my area.

Tough choice but I voted Rodenbach. Especially if it is the old Grand Cru.

I actually would have voted for this, if I could have.

As for opening an online Belg beer shop, I say yes.

I live in Australia, though, so would love to find a place that can ship it at a decent price.

I have tried a couple of Belgian sites but they charge a crazy amount for shipping and the shipping cost is constant (even if I purchased dozens of cartons, the shipping is no cheaper per carton than if I only buy a few).

Chaos.

Don't deal with Inbev ... they are the BudMillerCoors of the world.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this.

Are you saying that because a beer is brewed by Inbev, it is automatically swill?

Or are you saying that they are bad people to deal with, and advising edbuun, to avoid business dealings with them?

I don't like them because often when they take over a brand it becomes only a distant shadow of it's former self.

While a lot of the beers they brew are muck, they do have some good ones too.

I am very fond of Leffe Bruin and Leffe Radieuse. I have been known to drink Staropramen and Hoegaarden on occasion too.

In some cases, the only decent beer in a pub will be from Inbev/Interbrew and in comparison to what other brewing giants do when they take over a brewery, they are white knights.

They are getting different beer styles out there, rather than marketing the hell out of a few fizzy yellow water brands and for that, I think they should be commended rather than vilified.

True! I'd have to see a list of all the beers they now handle. But you are right some of the beers that you mentioned are still very good. Hoegaarden was once a better beer though. Anyone have a list of the beers handled by In bev?

Hoegaarden has only recently arrived on the market here, so I have no way to know how it has changed.

I have certainly tasted better wit beers though.

In inbev Brands (http://www.inbev.com/brands/2__1__0__brandsphilosophy.cfm) website has a fairly large list of what they handle. No idea how comprehensive it is, though.

Thanks for providing that link. I can't seem to get past the age question. It gets stuck.

The only beer I've tasted in that list is Duvel, and I didn't really care for it too much.

Leffe Bruin and Leffe Radieuse

I had both of these when I was in French Guiana last year! Great brown and the radieuse was interesting... Didn't like the Leffe Blond as much!!

Welcome to the boards Fiona! I think you are the first member from France. It will be good to get your perspective.

They're no Westvletern (sp?), or so I've heard (I heard a rumor Green's in Atlanta had some once), but Westmalle, Chimay, Delirium, those could all be on such a list. And Corsendonk, they can hang pretty well too. I've become a big fan of Westmalle Dubbel and anything from Corsendonk.

Of that list, I'd have to say Duvel. I know, I sound disappointed when it's an excellent beer, but I guess I was hoping to see some others on such a list.
