Served on draft at Big Dog's Brewing Company, 16oz glass.

This beer was deep golden in color, with just a hint of orange highlights. Quite hazy (from the dry hopping in the serving vessel as I'd later find out). Wardog had a small head, but was very good at lacing the glass.

Aroma was subtle citrus with noticeably stronger pine notes. Surprisingly there were also some grain in the nose - a bit of caramel and something Munich-like.

Bittering dominates the first sip, nothing harsh though, just a long, clean, well defined bitterness. A good dose of malt sweetness comes in to balance things out, a bit doughy, but needed. Hops swoop in and finish things out with a lingering finish.

Imperial IPAs are all about hops, and this beer didn't let me down. It was like a roller coaster of hop flavors - pine, orange, grapefruit, lemon, dandelion. There was also a slight resinous thing going on, like hops sticking to my palate. Overall, one of the best beers that I've seen brewed locally.

Grain bill - pale, aromatic, caramel, carapils
Hop bill - simcoe, warrior, chinook, cascade, anthenium (sp?)

Sounds yummy. Next time I'm out that way, I'll buy you a pint. (Unless it's a litre at Hofbrau Haus) BTW did you ever check your PMs? I think I saw some that went undelivered..

Man, that one heck of a hop "bill" in that brew. Any idea what the IBU's were?

There was no info as far as the IBUs, but sensation wise it was comparable to Stone's Ruination. I'd guess somewhere around 90 IBUs.
