i have heard that using piming sugar gives your beer a cider taste and have been told not touse it.
suggested that i use dme.
can someone tell me how much to use for a 5 gallon batch and how to incorerate it into the beer.

Gary-
Make a small wort by mixing 1 1/4 cups of pale DME with about a quart or so of water.
bring it to a boil and hold it for 15 mins.
cool to the same temp as your beer and mix it in in the bottling bucket so that it is distributed evenly. try not to aerate the beer though.

I have had absolutely no problems using corn sugar for priming. You're not using that much of it. Some folks prefer to use DME becuase it's in keeping the brew in line with Reinheitsgebot. Others feel that it does give the beer a slightly nicer flavor and a better, tighter head. I've never experienced any difference.

I HAVE READ ALOT OF THESE POSTS AND HAVE GATHERED ALOT OF VERY USEFUL INFO, AND EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE VERY PATIENT AND VERY UNDERSTANDING OF THE ROOKIE HOMEBREWER.
THANX AGAIN TO EVERYONE AND I AM INDEED HAVING FUN AND SO FAR HAVE ENJOYED THE HOMEBREWING EXPERIENCE.
