Hat jemand Kneitinger getrunken?

Did anyone ever drink Kneitinger Pils? I believe it contends with some of the best beers I have ever drank. You can find this lovely rich pilsner in the beautiful Regensburg, Germany - just an hour away of Munich. What's funny is that not many tourists know about this hidden gem. Check it out!

I´m right here, hehehe. I can´t believe someone outside of eastern Bavaria actually knows about Kneitinger. Is it available in the US ? If so, do give details because everyone on this board needs to experience Regensburg Brewing Superiority :D

PS: While I like the Pilsener I think their Dunkel wipes the floor with it.

Kneitinger is among my favourites. I even have a tshirt because I like that saying "Nur echt mit dem Bock". So many beers, so little time. :D

That needs a longer explanation... The Kneitinger brewery is pretty much in the center of the old town of Regensburg and once a year (in early November) they brew their Bock Bier. The day when they open their kegs the entire square is like a festival with people standing everywhere slurping down this nectar of the Gods.

Now "Bock" is not only a beer type, it is also the german word for a male goat. Which is the logo of Kneitinger. Legend has it that Bock Bier is called that way because when they brewed it the first time a goat came by and slurped from the keg they made it in.

Since the goat seemed to like it they decided to call it "Goat Beer" and it became the mascot of Kneitinger as well. Their slogan is "Nur echt mit dem Bock" which refers both to the beer and the mascot. It translates to "Only real with the goat".

On a personal note, I´m known on many Heavy Metal message boards as "Black Goat" so you can see why my wife likes a brewery that uses a slogan referring to my nick :D
